Positive Parenting provides a unique combination of support and education to help parents navigate the first three years of their child’s life. Each of our education and support classes lasts 50 minutes and meets weekly. Our classes are composed of a small group of parents, typically between 5 and 8 moms, who have children born within a few months of each other. A tailored curriculum is developed for each age group to ensure that weekly discussion topics are age-appropriate and address the challenges currently facing the parents. Children are welcome in the class and we provide a variety of toys to help entertain them so that the moms can focus on the discussion. In addition, our room contains baby swings, a diaper changing station, boppy pillows, and a comfortable glider. Unlike other parenting classes, the Positive Parenting program provides a long-term support system for new moms. Classes are structured to run for the first three years of a child’s life and our moms move through the program together, as their children grow. This consistent environment fosters the development of a strong support system for each member of the group.
